There is an energy crisis in today's world. As humans, our power consumption only increases from year to year. Most of our energy consumption today comes from nonrenewable sources like natural gas, petroleum, and coal. The problem with fossil fuels is that they are carbon based and will run out. There is not an unlimited supply of these fuels and even if there was, can our planet withstand the rising temps from the use of these fossil fuels? Students will investigate a possible solution to today's energy crisis by building a wind turbine that will lift pennies off of the ground. 
 
This is a student favorite project! I use a leaf blower as the wind source, but any fan will work.
